Turning Engineering into Action: Andrea’s Internship Story

Important | 2026-04-22

Meet Andrea Isabel De La Guadalupe Larocca Paspirgelis, last year student in Aviation engineering. Through the Erasmus+ program, she is doing her internship at Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas in Spain, within the CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation) area. In her day‑to‑day work, she deals with technical documentation related to continuing airworthiness, such as Service Bulletins (SB), Vendor Service Bulletins (VSB), Airworthiness Directives (AD), Retrofit Information Letters (RIL), among others. This has helped Andrea gain a clearer understanding of how modifications and regulatory requirements are assessed and implemented across the fleet. She is also learning about engine condition monitoring, as well as the process of preparing Engineering Orders (EO) and later incorporating them into Work Orders (WO) for execution during different types of maintenance.

And one of the things she enjoys most?

It is seeing how all this technical information is translated into real operational actions. In fact, one of her favorite days was when she had the opportunity to go to the airport, where one of the supervisors guided her through a walk‑around, explaining the pre‑flight inspection and the role of the airline’s Maintenance Control Center (MCC).

In terms of the skills she is developing, she would highlight the interpretation of aeronautical technical documentation, the planning and structuring of maintenance tasks from an engineering perspective, and a deeper understanding of continuing airworthiness management processes within CAMO. Overall, she is learning a great deal and meeting many engineers in her field who have shared their experiences with her.

This has made her feel even more motivated to complete her degree, and on a personal level, it has been one of the best experiences of her life. Andrea is deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to live it.
