Students, faculty, and researchers at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) had the opportunity to strengthen international ties, participate in academic activities, and share experiences with colleagues from different European countries. These activities were carried out under the NAWA PROM program, which facilitates short-term mobility for students and academic staff.
Research internships, summer schools, and study and familiarization visits lasting up to 30 days not only allow participants to gain new knowledge but also to establish connections that can serve as the foundation for long-term international collaboration.
In May 2026, KTU faculty and students participated in an international summer school, where they shared knowledge, learned, and worked in an international environment alongside students and academic staff from Poland, Greece, Portugal, and Georgia.
International exchanges continued into the fall. In September 2026, students from the Rzeszów University of Technology visited KTU and participated in the summer school. At the same time, Roman Wdowik, a researcher from the Rzeszów University of Technology, completed a short-term research internship at KTU’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Design.
Such visits provide an opportunity not only to get to know the academic environment at other universities, but also to discover new areas for collaboration. For academic staff, this is an opportunity to establish contacts with colleagues from abroad, exchange knowledge and experience, and explore opportunities for joint research and projects. For students, international mobility allows them to test themselves in a different academic environment, participate in lectures and projects, and develop the competencies essential for today’s engineers.
From Short-Term Visits to Long-Term Collaboration
Members of the academic communities from various universities, primarily from European countries, are participating in the project implemented by the University of Technology in Żeszów. Project activities were organized remotely at the participating universities from October 2025 through September 2026.
The NAWA PROM program supports various forms of short-term international mobility and exchange for undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral candidates, faculty members, and researchers.
Such initiatives help foster more than just short-term academic connections. It is expected that the partnerships established will, in the long run, contribute to greater staff involvement in international research projects, joint scientific publications, and new opportunities for international collaboration.
For students, this is an opportunity to broaden their academic and professional horizons, while for universities, it is a chance to strengthen international ties and develop new areas of joint activity.
