On 26 September the international scientific-practical seminar “Universal and unique weaving techniques of ethnographic fabrics of Western Ukraine and Lithuania” of the project “Unique Ethnographic Textile Technologies: Conservation Experience in Western Ukraine and Lithuania” of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian bilateral cooperation programme in the field of science and technology was held, during which the study of old national production techniques of clothing components was analysed. During the seminar held in Daržininkai (Vilkaviškis district), folk master weavers Janina Blažukienė and Edita Šūmakarienė introduced the techniques of weaving overlaid aprons and Suvalkian shawls. The seminar participants, including prof. Daiva Milašienė, assoc. prof. Eglė Kumpikaitė and Žaneta Rukuižienė from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Design, had the opportunity to try out the peculiarities of weaving overlaid ornaments in practise and to visit the exhibition of the reconstructions of the old aprons and shawls of the mentioned weavers at the Zypliai Mansion.
